Hi, my name is Maile Kilen (pronounced My-Lee Ky-len). If you have stumbled upon this page, you are probably a relative, friend, or teacher, so welcome! I am so incredibly grateful to be able to experience travel to the extent that I have, and I’m hoping to share my experiences, good and bad, with you in this online journal.
I graduated from Denver North High School in the class of 2021. I have always loved learning, but throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic I have found myself conflicted with a desire for knowledge but distaste for education in the strict, institutionalized sense I have experienced for the past 12 years. I will be attending the University of British Columbia for the Fall of 2022, but it is so important to me that I step back and figure out who I want to be outside of the structures of the education system.
I hope you enjoy my uncensored thoughts, mishaps, stories, and (hopefully) the epiphanies travel has to offer me.
