Day 28: Exploring Prague

10.20.21

I began my morning at a super cute coffee shop! I had a delicious açaí bowl and caught up on my journaling. It is amazing how cheap the food here is, coffee is only $3!

I left and began walking around the city. I tried to go to the National Memorial to the Hero’s of the Heydrich Terror but it was closed to the public. I did see the Dancing Tower along my walk though!

The weather was so beautiful. I loved looking at all the buildings and architecture. I walked through Petrinske Sady park which was like a huge hill but had a beautiful view of Prague.

I then walked across the Charles Bridge and that was stunning as well. I basically spent the morning walking around aimlessly for quite a while just looking at all the beautiful monuments and sights. Eventually, I got some candy and sat down to figure out a plan for the remainder of the day.

I spontaneously decided to take a train to Karlstejn, where there is the famous Karlstejn castle! The train ride was only 40 minutes and the trek to the castle was a huge, steep, long, exhausting hill which took me quite a while, which I was very I’ll prepared for in such warm weather. But it was worth it! The views were amazing especially as the leaves were turning orange. I went on a castle tour then headed back to the train.

Super hungry, I got “Paprika” and got a hummus and falafel bowl. Exhausted from so much walking (10 miles in total today!), I went back to the hostel to lay down for a little.

I didn’t have much time to relax, though, because I had booked a ghost tour of Prague! The tour was super interesting as the guide led us through old town Prague and told historic tables and ghost stories.

I treated myself to some really good pina colada ice cream and went back to the hostel where I met two roommates. One is named Sarah and she is from Finland, the other is from Utah but is working in London. We all talked for a while then went to bed.

  1. The architecture is incredible, I can see how walking around the streets is fun. And that castle too. I looked it up and it’s from 1348, almost 700 years!
