Day 31: A Busy Day in Zurich

10.23.21

I definitely made the most of my day in Zurich! I had some cereal at the hostel for breakfast, then quickly headed to Studio Roma where I had booked a pottery class. It was a lot of fun and definitely a skill I would love to continue and improve upon at home.

My next destination was the Lindt Home of chocolate Museum. i definitely struggle figuring out the public transport, and ended up walking halfway until I found the right bus, but it was such beautiful weather I didn’t mind at all.

The museum was a lot of fun. It took me through the process of chocolate making and it’s incorporation into modern day. I enjoyed lots of samples and bought some Lindt chocolate for later.

From the museum, I walked/bussed to Old Town Zurich, where I found a very beautiful park with a panoramic view of the city! I sat there, ate a sandwich I had packed, and read my book. It was very nice. I decided I wanted to explore more of the city, so since I couldn’t find a walking tour for today at a good time, I kind of made my own. I used google maps and added stops for landmarks and popular streets I had found online. Not the best, but better than nothing!

Despite how expensive it was, I couldn’t help but buy a bracelet with a moonstone that apparently “encourages and protects while exploring the unknown” which I thought was perfect for my travels! I also got a weekly planner and a pin for my bag.

After some more walking/city exploring, I noticed the sun beginning to set, so I got a very fancy boba drink and walked to a river/canal side park to read and watch the sunset, accompanied by many geese and even a swan! After a while, it began to get pretty cold so I started heading back to my hostel, thinking it would be an early night.

However, on my walk home, 5 minutes from my hostel, I stumbled upon a huge white tent and a lot of people- a circus! I didn’t want to end the day, so I was able to get tickets and I headed inside. Despite being pretty tacky and all in German, the show ended up being pretty cool. There were lots of cool motercyle tricks, tightroping, dancing, horses, juggling, etc. it featured a singer named Bastain Baker, but I had never heard of him.

The show ended around 11, and I made it back to my hostel exhausted from such a long, eventful day. However, it was so much fun and a great day of travel!
