Day 42: Exploring more of Venice

11.3.21

Today the weather forecast was not as great as yesterday, but not awful! Only cloudy and sprinkling rain throughout the day.

We left the air bnb around 11 (another pretty late morning but I’m definitely enjoying sleeping in without the interruption of hostel roommates!) and headed to a pretzel shop to get some snacks for the day. The pretzels are huge and so good, we got rosemary, cheese, and one with a lot of seeds.

We got a train to Venice and walked 30 minutes to a popular pastry shop I had found online called Rosa Salva. It had amazing looking desserts! We shared some and I also had my morning coffee.

Then we made our way to a walking tour I had booked online. The tour was alright- I’ve definitely been on better ones- but we did learn about some urban legend of Venice, visited a Jewish Synagogue, and learned about the significance of a lot of Venetian architecture.

It rained in and off throughout the tour which wasn’t too bad, considering we both packed ponchos preparing for the worse, but never used them!

We walked to the train station and headed back to Padova to do some clothes shopping. I was in desperate need of new and warmed clothes after wearing the same things every other day for over a month!

We had to stop by the gelato place once more and this time we got double scoops!

To save money, we made dinner with the leftover groceries and it turned out so good! We pan fried onion, bell pepper, and tomatoes, and combined that with quinoa and salad mix and some falafels and melted cheese. I didn’t have much though, since I had my calzone from yesterday to finish.

We ended the day by doing some cleaning and planning with the rest of our €2 wine before calling it a night.

  2. How do your new clothes look? Do they make you look like a local and not a tourist?!?! I hope you are enjoying having a familiar face with you while you explore.
