Today me and Melina explored more of the islands of Venice. We got a coffee and croissant in the morning before boarding our train (of course). The coffee was very interesting though. It was like an espresso shot with chocolate sauce and hazelnuts. It was super strong but very good (I guess all Italian coffee is!)

After arriving in Venice, we boarded a water ferry to Murano. The ride was only about 25 minutes long. The island was super nice and quiet compared to the main one. Murano is known for glass blowing so there were many cool glass stores. We got some gelato (of course) and walked around the shops before sitting by a canal to relax.

We booked a glass blowing demonstration so we went to that in a glass factory and it was super cool! We watched workers make glasses and cups and even the “glass master” make a horse figurine. We both couldn’t resist buying some souvenirs as well.
Then we boarded another ferry to Burano- this island is known for its colorful picturesque houses and for lace making. It was gorgeous here! We spent a lot of time taking pictures and watching the sun set. To kill time, we sat in a cafe and ordered a Spritz (traditional cocktail for Italy supposedly).
The ferry ride back to the main islands of Venice was 45 minutes which we both almost fell asleep during. We made it, though, and walked to Da Alvise- a restaurant we had dinner reservations for. We both wanted a “fancy” Venetian dinner for our last day traveling together.
We shared a bottle of their “sparkling fruity wine” (I forgot the name) and for our appetizer we got a shredded cod and polenta dish. I’ve never had anything like this before, and it was so good! A little strange because of the texture, but the flavors were amazing. We also both got pesto gnocchi and it was also incredible.
After dinner, we made our way back to the air bnb in Padova, a walk, a train, and a bus. We were exhausted, but not too tired to stop at our favorite gelato place before calling it a day. We got back to the air bnb very sleepy, packed up, and cleaned to leave tomorrow.
